Most rental disagreements are not caused by bad people. They are caused by assumptions.

Tenants often believe landlords are simply collecting easy money every month. From the outside, rent looks straightforward. But many tenants never see the repairs, empty months, service charges, and unexpected costs behind the scenes. So when a landlord delays replacing something immediately, it can look like indifference instead of budgeting.

Landlords also assume tenants should automatically know how to manage the property. But everyone comes from different living habits. Something obvious to one person may genuinely be unfamiliar to another. Without clear guidance, mistakes look intentional even when they are not.

Shortlet hosts experience something similar. They expect guests to behave perfectly, yet many guests are in a new environment and rely on instructions. When rules are unclear, guests improvise. Improvisation leads to damage, tension, and poor reviews.

Guests on their part often expect everything to function instantly like a hotel. When there is a delay in water, electricity, or internet, frustration rises quickly. If communication is poor, a normal inconvenience feels like negligence.

The real issue in many rentals is silence. People rarely explain expectations clearly at the beginning. Instead, everyone reacts when something goes wrong. Most conflicts would reduce if people simply understood each other’s realities earlier.

Very often, nobody intended harm. They just interpreted the situation from their own perspective.
