Rental spaces come with rules that are written down. But they also come with rules no one talks about.
Things like respecting shared spaces. Keeping noise at reasonable levels. Letting people know before making changes. These are not always written in agreements, but they shape how peaceful or tense a rental feels.
Problems often start when people assume everyone thinks the same way they do. A guest may feel comfortable rearranging furniture, while a host sees it as disrespectful. A tenant may think silence means approval, while a landlord expects updates.
These unspoken expectations can cause frustration on both sides. Not because anyone is wrong, but because no one said anything out loud.
Clear communication helps bridge this gap. Talking about boundaries, preferences, and expectations early prevents awkward situations later.
A good rental experience is not just about the space. It is about how people share it.
